New Restrictions Force Changes To Operations Of City Rec Facilities
In response to the new restrictions enacted under the Public Health Act to prevent the potential spread of COVID - 19 the City will be either closing or restricting use of their facilities in order to be in compliance with the new provincial restrictions that came into effect 12:01 am Thursday November 26.
The new restrictions are in effect until December 17th at which time they will be reviewed by the Chief Medical Officer of Saskatchewan to determine if they can relaxed.
The following is a list of those changes:
Yara Centre:
▪ The fitness centre and indoor track will remain open within the current Yara Centre hours of operation and booking processes, but with reduced capacity limits and mandatory masking for all activities.
▪ Fitness classes continue under the current measures which include groups of 8 or fewer, mandatory mask use for all participants and at least 3 metres of physical distancing.
▪ Turf rentals are under review as the City consults with user groups on expected usage and further announcements will made should there be any changes to current availability.
▪ Drop-in turf activities are suspended until further notice.
Kinsmen Sportsplex Pool:
▪ Public swimming continues within the current pool hours of operation and booking processes, but with updated capacity limits and physical distancing/masking guidelines.
▪ Aquatic fitness classes continue under current booking practices while adering to current measures which includes groups of 8 or fewer and at least 3 metres of physical distancing.
▪ Swimming lessons, advanced courses and private rentals are suspended until further notice.
Mosaic Place and City Arenas (Kinsmen Arena, Pla-Mor Palace)
▪ After consulation with arena user groups, the Pla-Mor Palace will be temporarily closed effective November 27, 2020. Ice will remain in but current ice rentals will be redirected to the Kinsmen Arena and Mosaic Place.
▪ Mandatory mask use and three (3)metres of physical distancing is required in all areas including the ice surface.
▪ All public skating, shinny hockey, and adult recreational hockey has been suspended until further notice.
Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre
▪ All curling leagues have been paused through December 17. For further information, call the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre at 306-624-2048.
Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery
▪ The Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery remains open within the current hours of operation with capacity remaining at 20. Masks are mandatory in all areas of the facility.
▪ In-person art classes are limited to 6 students, who are physically distanced more than 2 meters and also required to wear masks.
Moose Jaw Cultural Centre
▪ The Moose Jaw Cultural Centre will remain open with a maximum of 10 people allowed in the Art Gallery, to allow space for physical distancing.
▪ Capacity for all live performances will be restricted to 30 people and masks are mandatory in all areas of the facility.
▪ Beverage services have been suspended until further notice.
Moose Jaw Public Library
▪ The Moose Jaw Public Library will remain open and has had no significant changes as a result of the new measures.
▪ They continue to encourage patrons to use the curbside pickup option if they would like items but aren't able to come in. Patrons can put the items on hold themselves or give the Library a call with their preferences and they will gladly put a package together based on their preferences. The Library has great digital resources from books to movies and are happy to help navigate by phone if people are sticking around their homes.
