Meet Your Candidates - James Murdock
Growing up in the small community of Central Butte, I learned the importance of community and family values early on.
Over 30 years ago, I made the move to Moose Jaw, and I’m proud to call this city home.
I’m also thrilled that my mom and two sisters have joined me in making Moose Jaw their home, further strengthening our family’s connection to this great city.
Throughout my time here, my focus has always been on family and serving this community.
I founded Moose Jaw Funeral Home after several years in the funeral profession, co-founded River Street Promotions, and have dedicated countless hours to various community organizations including the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, Providence Place Health Foundation and Hunger in Moose Jaw.
Serving others has always been a driving force in my family's life, and I’m ready to dedicate my energy and passion to making Moose Jaw an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.

Why I am running:
After many years in the funeral profession, I recently retired and was able to refocus on something that has always been close to my heart: community.
My long-standing commitment to community service, decades of business experience, and the time and energy I can now fully dedicate all made it clear that this is the right moment for me to step up.
I have no preconceived notions—just a passion for building a better future for Moose Jaw, and the drive to turn talk into action, digging in and getting it done.
If elected, together we can make Moose Jaw a business-friendly city by cutting red tape, streamlining permits, and attracting new industries to support local growth.
By investing in Moose Jaw’s unique attractions, we can boost tourism and drive more revenue for local businesses.
We can make Moose Jaw a place where young professionals want to build their futures and raise their families, through education, career opportunities, and a welcoming, active community.
Finally, we can prioritize infrastructure, modernizing our public services, repairing roads, and securing funding for long-term growth—all while ensuring open communication so every resident’s voice is heard.
