Mayor Says If Snow In Disabled Parking Spot It Will Be Removed

With the issue of snow removal and upcoming changes to the Special Needs Advisory Committee centering on inclusion and accessibility addressed at Monday afternoon’s regular Council meeting we asked Mayor Clive Tolley about a more solid roadblock regarding access at Tuesday morning’s post Council presser.

Our question was about the City’s recent snow plowing efforts and why the snow was piled in the Disability Parking spot directly in front of City Hall’s front doors making it impossible for people with physical disabilities needing the spot to be unable to use it.

Mayor Tolley said he was unaware of the pile of snow blocking the use of the designated handicapped parking spot but if it was there the problem would be fixed.

“I wasn’t aware of that Robert,” the Mayor said when it was pointed out the disability spot was blocked while the able bodied spots were not, adding “I will have to go out onto the street and have a look and see if that is still the case. And certainly if it is we will get it rectified.”
