Mayor says Main Street will see some repairs this summer but drivers need to be patient

Main Street may have its problems but it’s a work in progress says Moose Jaw Mayor Clive Tolley.

Mayor Tolley said the City is doing its best, given a limited budget to get things fixed including Main Street.

“We’re working at it. And sometimes people are grumpy about the condition of the roads and that. They’re grumpy about having to go on detours to get around. So I think you can’t have it both ways,” the Mayor said, adding, “We need to fix the infrastructure as we have the budget to do it and we look at the worst situations as quickly as we can, and fix the worst first and move on.”

Tolley made the comments during the post Council media scrum where he was being asked about the city having three streets listed as the worst in the province’s in a CAA survey.

The Mayor said there will be some noticeable repairs to Main Street this summer.

“Well we’re working right in front of City Hall right now to fix Main Street and the 0 block of Main Street this June is going to have some repairs the cast iron, and the new surface on the road.”
