No Seniors City Championship Games This Year
It’s official the Moose Jaw High School Athletics Association city league championships are now over.
As per the announcement this morning from the STF (Saskatchewan Teachers Federation) the league was forced to cancel the city finals that had been rescheduled for Monday.
As part of the STF’s direction the league is not permitted to re-schedule the games.
An eleventh hour attempt was made to save the two final games but failed.
It is unknown at the present time what effect, if any, the directive will have on elementary school basketball.
The STF has been embroiled in a contract dispute with the provincial government and has undertaken job actions including the temporary suspension of all extracurricular activities.
There is hope that the dispute will not impact the provincials/Hoopla which is scheduled to be held in Moose Jaw.
EDITOR’S NOTE - I would like to say thank you for allowing me to cover high school basketball these past few years.
Due to health reasons as it stands right now this was my last season. I hope people enjoyed our coverage more than hated it.
Good luck to everyone and play your best with class and sportsmanship as you chase that provincial championship dream.
