Western Canadian Powerlifting Championships Set To Draw Hundreds Of Competitors

If you are interested in power lifting or just want to check it out the next few days are for you.

Starting Thursday and running until Sunday the Western Canadian Powerliftung and Bench Press Championships will feature 480 athletes competing.

The event runs Thursday - Saturday from 8 am until the evening and Sunday from 8 am until just after supper.

The championships will be held at the Moose Jaw Exhibition’s Convention Centre located at 250 Thatcher Drive East.

The championship is a qualifying event for the national team so athletes competing will be from western Canada as well as other parts of the country.

The event will showcase some very good lifters.

Although powerlifting is not an Olympic sport the sport does have world championships and being part of Canada’s national team gives lifters the opportunity to compete for Canada on the world stage.

Spectators are welcome and admission is by donation which will not be strictly enforced.
