Dispute Impacting High School Basketball Playoffs

The on-going contract dispute between the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) and the provincial government is set to see additional sanctions next week.

Today the STF announced on Monday March 4th there will be a one day rotating strike where they will be withdrawing professional and voluntary services for the day.

This is in addition to the withdrawal of extracurricular activities on March 5th (Tuesday) and March 6th (Wednesday).

Teachers will not report to school and will not perform any teaching-related duties this coming Monday.

The one day strike also includes extracurricular activities.

The schools affected by the one day rotating strike in Moose Jaw are:

  • Prairie South School Division

  • Association Locale des Enseignantes et des Enseignants Fransaskois - École Ducharme

  • Saskatchewan Distance Learning Corporation (Including Moose Jaw)

The reason for the job actions is because of a contract negotiation impact on wages and additional classroom resources plus class sizes between the STF and the provincial government.
