Spirits Defeat Toilers In Physical Showdown
The snow may have been piling up outside as “winter” has returned but that didn’t stop the Vanier Spirits and Peacock Toilers from battling it out in junior girls basketball action on Wednesday night.
The Spirits came out aggressive and strong in the first half of play and easily contained the Toilers.

The second half saw the once tentative Toilers come out playing like a playground team - aggressive, gritty and not backing down.
The Toilers would fight for the ball with major efforts by Kealy Halyk continually fighting for ball control offensively and defensively.
Macy Kuntz would use her size and aggressive play on offensive rebounds to put the ball in the basket.
The Spirits did not back down leading to a much more physical game in the second half.
In the end the Spirts defeated the Toilers 66 - 25.

The score at the end of the First Quarter was Vanier 16 and Peacock 2.
The Second Quarter saw an aggressive Spirits team seemingly dominate the majority of play with the Toilers unable to make basket attempts.
The score at Halftime was Vanier 30 and Peacock 7.

The Third Quarter saw the Toilers play a more aggressive game leading to baskets.
The score at the end of the quarter was Vanier 48 and Peacock 15.
The Fourth Quarter was the highest scoring for the Toilers who were outscored 18 - 10 by the Spirits.
The Final Score was Vanier 66 and Peacock 25.
