Traffic Stop Nets Criminal Charges

On February 13, 2024, members of the Moose Jaw Police Service executed a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Stadacona Street East.
Within the vehicle was the driver - a 44-year-old male and the passenger - a 22-year-old male.
Police suspected the driver of the vehicle to be impaired and proceeded to perform a roadside examination using an Approved Screening Device (ASD) - the test came back negative.
While further investigating the driver, Police learned the vehicle matched the description of one that had been reported stolen from Regina on February 11, 2024.
A search of the driver yielded 35.6 grams of Methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $3560, along with 67.3 grams of suspected Fentanyl with an estimated street value of $5384.
The passenger of the vehicle was also searched and a small amount of Fentanyl was found on his person, along with drug paraphernalia
In addition, 25 boxes of Pokemon and sports cards were discovered in the back seat of the vehicle. It is believed that the cards were stolen and the owner of the cards is unknown at this time
As a result, Ryan Kupser, 44, and Brennan Luhning, 22, have both been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 and Possession of Stolen Property under $5000.
Luhning has also been charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance.
Additionally, Kupser has been charged with two counts of Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, and one count each of Failure to Comply with an Undertaking, and
Obstructing a Peace Officer.
Both Kupser and Luhning made their first appearance in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on Wednesday morning (February 14, 2024).
