U17 Spartans Girls Kick Off Weekend Tournament With Win

It was a good start for the Spartan U17 girls team as they defeated the Yorktown Blue Jays 55 - 37 in both teams opening game of the Premier Prairie Classic Basketball Tournament.

The Spartans were able to jump out into a strong first quarter lead of 20 - 8 over the Blue Jays by dominating play in the offensive half of the court.

The Spartans were able to outscore the Blue Jays 12 to 9 in the second quarter leaving the at half time 32 - 17.

The Spartans allowed some of their younger players onto the court during the third quarter giving their older players a bit of a rest.
Most notable was Central Collegiate’s junior girls player Shaylan Constable who took a couple of bumps and grinds on the court during the course of the game.
Despite the bumps and grinds the Spartans continued to outscore the Blue Jays in the third quarter with the score at the end of the quarter being 47 - 28.

The Blue Jays managed to out score the Spartans by a single point in the fourth quarter with the final score 55 - 37.

The Spartans next game is today Saturday June 20th at 11 am at Peacock Collegiate.
