Warriors Finishing on High Notre

Friday night at the Art Hauser arena in Prince Albert, SK.
The season is nearly wrapped-up; and the Moose Jaw Warriors would most likely be getting home-ice advantage versus the Lethbridge Hurricanes come playoff time but there was still a slight chance of that changing.
The Warriors looked fantastic in their last outing, downing the league-leading Winnipeg Ice.
Could that success continue with a road win over the Pesky Raiders?
The game was a back-and-forth affair until the good guys struck first, about halfway into the first period.
Martin Rysavy did most of the work, wrangling a long pass from Matthew Gallant, skirting the defence then shuffling a quick pass to Ben Riche, who scored.

The Warriors scored twice more in the second, giving themselves a comfortable three goal lead.
The second one came courtesy of Jagger Firkus, scoring his 39th of the season and surpassing Atley Calvert in the team’s goal scoring race.
Firkus also played a role in the following goal, less than two minutes later, assisting Logan Dowhaniuk.
Both goals came on fast breaks. The Warriors were in flight.

But, you know, nothing is sacred in the WHL.
Not even a three goal lead.
The Raiders did the unthinkable and rallied back, scoring three unanswered goals.
The first one they got back shortly after Dowhaniuk’s, reducing the lead to two.
Sloane Stanick scored it, tipping a shot past Jackson Unger.
Then they netted two more in the third period, first Niall Crocker added one before Stanick scored his second of the night.

All the Raider resistance turned out to be for nothing though, as the good guys pelted them for a couple more to round out the game.
Ryder Korczak scored in the 16th minute then Firkus netted another one almost immediately after.
What a night for Jagger Firkus. Strong outing for the tribe. They look good entering the postseason.
The Warriors win 5-3
Only one game left in the season. It’s tomorrow night, in Moose Jaw, against the Saskatoon Blades.
