After Monday evening's come from behind 5 - 4 overtime victory the hometown Moose Jaw Carpet One Mavericks Team One were looking to defeat Melville's Parkland Fire.
A win by the Mavericks would have won the Moose Jaw team the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League's (SFHL) U13 A East Division championship.

A Mavericks Team One win also would have meant an all Moose Jaw U13 A provincial final.
As the Mavericks U13 A Team Two had already claimed the SFHL's Western Division title in a Game Three overtime victory against Unity's Western Prairie.
But Prairie Fire had something to say about it.
As the Melville team defeated the Mavericks U13 A Team One 6 - 2 on Tuesday evening.

FIRST PERIOD
The first period saw Mavericks netminder Charlotte McKee make a stupendous save robbing Prairie Fire's standout speedster Payton Lamb.
At 15:46 Prairie Fire would get on the board when Abby Korolek would win a battle for the puck 10 feet inside the Mavericks blue line.
Korolek would use her speed to break in on McKee and slide the puck into the Mavericks net.
The goal was unassisted.

Parkland Fire would add to their lead at 14:06 when Kaley Allard would break in on the left wing and flick the puck past a butterflied McKee and into the Mavericks net.
The goal was unassisted.

The Mavericks would round out the first period with a Maria Umana goal.
Umana would break in all alone on the right wing after hard work by the Mavericks in Prairie Fire's zone.
Umana would take a wrist hand over Parkland Fire's netminder Lily Whitney.
The assist went to Kenzie Hazell.
The score at the end of the First period was Melville 2 and Moose Jaw 1.

SECOND PERIOD
The second period saw the Mavericks break out and in a passing play a wide open right wing side goal begged for a puck.
But the puck and resultant tying goal went six feet wide.
Parkland Fire would break down ice where Korolek would win the battle in the right wing corner.
Korolek would pass to a wide open Karissa Keewatin who easily scored into a wide open stick side of the net.
Time of the goal was 16:45.

Melville would add their fourth goal at 9:34 when Korolek took a pass on the left wing from Ainsley Apland.
Korolek would then use her speed to loop in front of McKee going to the backhand to lift the shot over the Mavericks goalies glove side pad.

Parkland Fire would make it a 5 - 1 game at 2:24 when Korolek took a pass from Payton Lamb.
Korolek would break in and score her hat trick goal on McKee.

Korolek would add her hat trick goal at 2:24 left in the second period.
Korolek would take a pass from Payton Lamb and then use her speed to evade the Mavericks defence and score on McKee.
The score after the second period was Melville 5 and Moose Jaw 1.

THIRD PERIOD
The Mavericks ran into penalty problems in the final period.
Penalties that led to Parkland Fire's sixth goal.
Breaking in on the right wing Korolek took a shot with the rebound going to Keewatin who was breaking in on the left. Keewatin would put it past netminder McKee at 12:41.
An additional assist went to Caleigh Orden.

The scoring for the Mavericks was not over as Finnley Faris would break in alone and score unassisted at 5:10.
The final score was Melville 6 and Moose Jaw 2.

Parkland Fire will meet Moose Jaw U13 A Team Two in the best of three SFHL's U13 A provincial final.
Editor's Note - Due to the U13A series tentatively scheduled start this Friday evening MJ Independent will not be able to physically attend Game One due to a scheduling conflict.
We will pick this series up off of the scoresheet and hopefully catch up in a later game.
