(Saturday’s game was shrouded in darkness)

Your Moose Jaw Warriors were in Regina to battle Connor Bedard and his Pats on Saturday night.

The game was played under a haze of darkness as it had been revealed earlier that four of the Warriors players, star goaltender Connor Ungar, NHL prospect defender Max Wanner, as well as Marek Howell and Lynden Lakovic were suspended indefinitely and an investigation was underway in regards to a possible breach of standards and conduct.

And if anyone knows anything about this Warriors team, they know that Connor Ungar routinely faces a hellacious amount of shots on goal and routinely keeps the team in games where most goalies wouldn’t.

The time was rife for the Pats to put a hurting on the tribe.

And that’s exactly what they did.

The Warriors looked unfazed early on, putting lots of pressure on the Pats in search of a first goal.

They eventually jumped out to an early lead in when Brayden Yager was awarded a Penalty Shot and deked the pants off of Drew Sim.

Then, just a few minutes after that Martin Rysavy added another one on a tough wrist shot.

The Pats got one back before the period expired when Connor Bedard zinged a wrister over Jackson Unger’s glove.

The Warriors padded their lead when Eric Alarie scored his 16th in the opening minute of Period 2. It was after that that wheels fell off.

Regina scored three times in five minutes. Tye Spencer, Alexander Suzdalev and Zane Rowan were the scorers.

Rysavy tied things up with his second goal of the game, but it was too late, because, as has previously been noted, the wheels were already off.

Borya Valis put the Pats out front before the period ended, then Connor Bedard got to work in the third, scoring twice more, to complete the Hat-Trick, and assisting on the final goal, which was Borya Valis’ second.

Not a great night for the Warriors.

They definitely missed the stability of Connor Ungar between the pipes. Jackson Unger allowed 8 goals on 27 shots.

8-4 Regina.

Bedard, with five points in the game, was awarded First Star.

Borya Valis, with three points was named Second Star and Tye Spencer was third.

Yager and Rysavy both had multi-point nights.

It’s gonna be a tough road moving forward.

The Warriors will be licking their wounds and preparing for their future until Friday night, when they host the league’s best Winnipeg Ice.
