Flyers Win First Game Of The Season

Friday nights might be right for fighting but this week it was the kickoff for the Milestone U18A Female Flyers 2023-2024 season.

Facing off against the Lumsden Lynx last year’s provincial finalists the Flyers managed a convincing come from behind 4 - 2 victory at the White City Communiskate.

It was a well rested Flyers who came off of last year’s marathon second game in the provincial finals against the East Central Fillies that never seemed to end.

The Lynx opened the scoring in the First Period.

E Mann scored a power play goal at 6:09 assisted by A Robertson and A McCullough.

The Flyers first goal of the 2023 - 2024 campaign came at the 16:00 minute mark of the Second Period.

D Pratt scored assisted by E Harker and C Callaghan.

The Flyers took a 2 - 1 lead at the 4:23 mark on an unassisted goal by C Callaghan.

The Third Period saw the Flyers K McCann score what turned out to be the game winner at 19:31.

Assists went to M Tendler and E Quigley.

The Lynx tried to claw their way back up when E MacMurchy scored assisted by Soucy.

But the comeback try was unsuccessful when M Tendler scored an unassisted goal with 41 seconds remaining in the game.

The Milestone Flyers next action is Sunday November 12th at 5:30 pm in Canora against the Prairie Ice.
