Day Two Of Provincials Set To Take Shape
Day One of the Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association 4A Senior Girls volleyball provincial championship is over and here’s how the local teams are fairing.
Vanier Spirits - Pool A
The top tournament seed Vanier Spirits have so far not disappointed.
The Spirits are 3 - 0 after Day One.
The Spirits opened the provincials defeating Melville 2 - 0.
The set scores were 25 - 8 and 25 - 14.
The Spirits then went in to defeat Lumsden 2 - 0.
The set scores were 25 - 7 and 25 - 21.
The rounded out Day One defeating Humboldt 2 - 0.
The set scores were 25 - 14 and 25 - 18.
Central Cyclones - Pool B
Provincials have been a tough road for the Central Cyclones.
As of the end of Day One the Cyclones sit at 0 - 3 dangerously close to elimination from the playoff bracket.
The Cyclones lost to Nipawin 2 - 0. The set scores were Nipawin 25 - 19 and 25 - 14.
In their second match the Cyclones fell to tough spikes from Regina’s Luther College 2 - 0. The set scores were Luther 25 - 17 and 25 - 22.
In their third and final match the Cyclones fell to powerhouse John Paul II Collegiate from North Battleford 2 - 0.
A tournament favourite John Paul II had a very difficult time with the Cyclones with set scores of 27 - 25 and 25 - 20.
The match was by far the Cyclones best match of the tournament so far.
