Spirits Have Perfect Evening In Junior Girls Volleyball

The Thanksgiving weekend moved junior girls volleyball action to Thursday instead of the regular Wednesday evening.
For this week MJ Independent took our coverage to the more intimate surroundings of the Central Collegiate gym where the round robin play saw the Central Cyclones Gold, Vanier Spirits, Riverview Royals and Central Butte Bulldogs face off.
It was a big night for the Vanier Spirits as the went a perfect 3 - 0 record.
Central Cyclones Gold
The Central Cyclones Gold team found themselves up against tough competition ending up with a 1 - 2 record for the evening.
The Central Cyclones Gold team was in tough against the hard spiking Vanier Spirits.
The Spirits swept the Cyclones 2 - 0 winning both sets.
The set scores were:
Spirits 25 - Cyclones 13
Spirits 25 - Cyclones 20
The Cyclones managed to win against crosstown rivals the Riverview Royals.
The set scores were:
Cyclones 25 - Royals 13
Cyclones 25 - Royals 18
Against the out of town Central Butte Bulldogs the Cyclones found themselves severely outmatched as the Bulldogs gnawed two victories.
The set scores were:
Cyclones 9 - Bulldogs 25
Cyclones 15 - Bulldogs 26
Riverview Royals
It was a bit of an up and down night for the Riverview Royals.
They ended up with an 0 - 2 - 1 record for the evening.
Against the home team Central Cyclones the south hill based Riverview Royals were up against some tough competition.
The Royals lost the match losing both of the sets.
The set scores were:
Cyclones 25 - Royals 13
Cyclones 25 - Royals 18
While the Cyclones lost to the Bulldogs the Riverview Royals managed to split their two sets against Central Butte.
The Royals also had the highest two set combined score of 40 points versus the combined score of 35 by the Bulldogs.
The set scores were:
Royals 15 - Bulldogs 25
Royals 25 - Bulldogs 10
Against the Vanier Spirits the Royals lost 2 - 0.
The set scores were:
Spirits 25 - Royals 8
Spirits 25 - Royals 11
Vanier Spirits
It was a perfect evening for the Vanier Spirits as they won all three of their matches.
The Spirits continued their winning ways sweeping both sets against the Central Butte Bulldogs and winning the match 2 - 0.
The set scores were:
Spirits 25 - Bulldogs 18
Spirits 25 - Bulldogs 12
As noted earlier the Vanier Spirits used power at the net combined with some masterful tip shots to win against the Central Cyclones.
The Spirits swept the Cyclones 2 - 0 winning both sets.
The set scores were:
Spirits 25 - Cyclones 13
Spirits 25 - Cyclones 20
Against the Riverview Royals the Vanier Spirits won 2 - 0.
The set scores were:
Spirits 25 - Royals 8
Spirits 25 - Royals 11
Central Butte Bulldogs
It was a nice sunny day to take the hour long drive to Moose Jaw.
For their efforts the Bulldogs managed to growl out a 1 - 1 - 1 record for the evening.
The Bulldogs lost 2 - 0 to the top team of the evening the Vanier Spirits.
The set scores were:
Spirits 25 - Bulldogs 18
Spirits 25 - Bulldogs 12
Against the Riverview Royals the Bulldogs tied with a 1 - 1 score in sets.
The Royals had the highest two set combined score of 40 points versus the combined score of 35 by the Bulldogs.
The set scores were:
Royals 15 - Bulldogs 25
Royals 25 - Bulldogs 10
And finally the Bulldogs were able to score a 2 - 0 sets victory against the Central Cyclones.
The set scores were:
Cyclones 9 - Bulldogs 25
Cyclones 15 - Bulldogs 26
