Three Day Hunter Jumper Equestrian Event Starts Today
If you are a fan of horse jumping the next three days are something you are likely going to be interested in.
Starting today, Friday August 26th to August 28th there will be a Hunter Jumper School and Show on the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds (250 Thatcher Drive East). Competition starts at 9 am daily and runs until between 2 pm and 3 pm depending on how the show progresses.
The event is FREE to the public and spectators are welcome to attend the outdoor event. The event will be held in the West Arena (just east of the Golden Mile Arena Building).
The event will feature 31 competitors and 35 horses from across Saskatchewan and into Manitoba, said Sam Harland horseshow manager.
Harland said a brief way to describe the two equestrian jumping styles is Jumper is more akin to figure skating and finesse while Jumper is more like hockey and is a timed event.
She said spectators are more than welcome but reminds people to wear a hat, bring sunscreen and dress appropriately for the weather.
There is plenty of bleacher seating available but if people wish to bring their own lawn chairs they are more than welcome to do so.
