Flyers Roll Over Destroyers On Sunday Afternoon
After a 4 - 2 victory on Friday evening the Milestone U18A Female Flyers were able to pull off the exact same score in Saskatchewan Female Hockey League (SFHL) action versus the Saskatoon Destroyers on Sunday afternoon in Milestone.
In what was a rough game with 15 minor penalties and a game misconduct handed out. The Flyers managed to outshoot the visitors 33 - 18.
The Flyers opened the scoring in the First Period at the 11:46 mark when Nikita Halyk scored assisted by Cara Faris and McKenna Perras.
The hometown Flyers would extend their lead by two netting their second marker on a goal by Ember DuSomme assisted by Sidney Ellingson at the 0:49 second mark. The longtime line mates returning to bolster the roster after missing Friday’s game.
The Destroyers got on the scoreboard in the Second Period at the 16:46 when Payton Unger scored an unassisted goal.
The Third Period saw the Flyers regain their two goal advantage on a goal by Caralyn Weisgerber at 16:46 assisted by Ellingson.
The Destroyers though were not done and they managed to come back within a goal of the Flyers when Natasha Orlaw scored at 2:39 assisted by Ksenia Bodnarchuk and Paynton Unger.
The Flyers though were able to dash any hopes of a late comeback with DuSomme scoring unassisted with 49 seconds in the game.
As a side note the Flyers Nikita Halyk hit the 50 minute mark in penalty minutes.
The Flyers next game and the regular season finale is February 19th at 1:15 pm when they face the Saskatoon Comet Predators in Saskatoon.
