Milestone U18 A Female Flyers Move Into Tie For First Place

A pair of wins over this frosty week has put the Milestone U18A Female Flyers in a tie for first place in the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League's U18 A south division.
The month of December was a big month for the Flyers with a plethora of games and key matchups.
At the present time the Flyers are tied with the Balcarres Barracudas for first place. The Barracudas have one game in hand.
Monday December 19 - Milestone 4 at Regina Rebels 1
After a much easier 7 - 1 victory in their last meeting the Flyers had a tougher time against the Regina Rebels in their third matchup of the season.
The Rebels managed to remained tied with the visiting Flyers for over half of the second period and the majority of the third period.
The Flyers opened the scoring at 15:54 of the First Period on an unassisted goal by Alexa Materi.
The Rebels tied the game up at the 12:25 mark of the Second Period on a goal by Mila Snell assisted by Mary Lerat.
The Third Period was even on the scoreboard until late in the period when Materi would score her second goal of the game as well as game winner with 3:08 left in the fame.
Assists went to Jordyn Vermeulen and Jessie Mielke.
The Flyers added the insurance marker with 14 seconds left in the game on a goal by Vermeulen assisted by Mielke and Emily Quigley.
Wednesday December 21 - Milestone 7 at Carlyle 1
The Flyers skated into Carlyle on Wednesday evening and came out with their third victory of the week.
The First Period was scoreless.
The Second Period saw the Flyers open the scoring.
At the 17:37 mark Kaleigh McCann scored on the powerplay assisted by Emily Quigley.
The Flyers would add to their lead at the 17:09 mark when Jesse Mielke scored. The assist went to Kalla Nicholas.

Mielke would score what would be the winner at the 8:56 mark assisted by Callie Callaghan.
Carlyle would get on the scoreboard at Dixie Corscadden at the 6:18 mark on a powerplay goal assisted by Kasienya Einarson.
Jordyn Vermeulen would wrap up second period scoring at the 3:53 mark assisted by Emily Quigley.
The Third Period was dominated by the Flyers who would score three unanswered goals.
Vermeulen would score at 11:30 assisted by Jordan Terry.
Jessie Mielke would score her hat trick goal unassisted at 11:17.
Alexa Materi would score with two minutes left in the game assisted by Mielke.
The Milestone U18A Female Flyers next home game is tonight December 22nd at 8 pm when they face the visiting Southeast TS&M Goldwings (Weyburn) team in what is expected to be a full house of fans at the Milestone Arena.
