Yorkton Upends Peacock
By Robert Thomas
Saturday afternoon was a bright and sunny day for those assembled at Gutheridge Field but sadly for their Peacock Tornadoes it was not the best of days as the Tornadoes fell 48 - 0 to the visiting Yorkton Raiders.
Yorkton managed to use both its speed on the run as well as passing to dominate the local squad.
The key to the Yorkton win was limiting Peacock’s rushing game with usually explosive Josh Johnson only five carries and 22 yards in offence.
The Tornadoes were able to put a total rushing offence of five yards in the first half and 17 yards in the second half for a total of 22 yards rushing for the entire game.
On the passing side of the game the Tornadoes fared a little better with 91 yards in seven completions out of 11 pass attempts in the first half. The second half saw the Tornadoes pick up 46 yards by completing five out of eight passing attempts.
Total offence for the Peacock Tornadoes was 159 yards.
Yorkton on the other hand managed total rushing offense of 198 yards and 161 yards in passing.
The Raiders put in total offence of 359 yards.
