Chowing Down

If you wondering what all the activity was about on Sunday afternoon and evening around the Moose Jaw Exhibition Company or Fair Grounds it was the barrel racers moving in for the majority of next week.

Starting tomorrow - Monday at noon - and continuing until sometime Thursday afternoon the best barrel racers in the province are set to compete in the provincial finals put on by the Saskatchewan Barrel Racing Association.

The largest horse show in the province will see hundreds of riders and their horses compete to see who is the best.

The caliber of riders and horses are some of the best with more than a few competitors having competed at larger events such as the Calgary Stampede.

The event is FREE for the public to attend.

The event will see hundreds of people camp out with their horses on the Exhibition grounds often with their horses stabled beside their stock trailers - with the trailers providing shade and plenty of fresh water on hand to hydrate in warmer tepmeratures.
