Golden Ticket Sports Centre To Host Open House Saturday Evening For Everyone
If you are looking to check out the recent major renovations to the former Hillcrest Sports Centre - now officially renamed the Golden Ticket Sports Centre - then Saturday evening from 6 - 10 pm is something that should interest you as the facility will be holding a community unveiling.
The facility is located adjacent the Hillcrest Golf and Country Club at 1599 Main Street North.
And everyone is invited to come out and not only take a look but try out their new multi-sports maple hardwood floor that was just installed in what had been, before the building of Mosaic Place and the Ford Curling Centre, a curling rink.
All you need is to bring your own basketball, clean indoor court shoes plus a non-perishable food item for the Moose Jaw and District Food Bank and you are all set. Other than the non-perishable food item entry is free of charge.
Golden Ticket Sports will supply the hand sanitizer in an age of COVID - 19.
“It is important for us to do things as high class as possible,” Golden Ticket Sports co-owner Tanner Brightman said as the facility was introduced to local media and dignitaries prior to Saturday evening’s reveal to the general public.
“We want anybody and everybody to come out and have a look.”
Creating a premiere sports facility is not an task and doing it the right way is not only a lot of work but expensive.
The space is the best that money can buy as it is important to Brightman and his business partner co-owner Chris King to have a great facility along with great programming.
“You need something you can bring people into. A top quality facility with great programming.”
The new hardwood court is part of a $400,000 commitment Golden Ticket Sports made to invest in the building and on Friday morning the final touches were underway.
“We want our facility to be open to a wide range of people. Everyone from 8 - 80 is welcome.,” Brightman said as he discussed the multitude of uses the facility can offer to Moose Jaw and area.
The hardwood court has the dimensions of 158 feet long by 85 feet wide. Enough for two full sized volleyball courts or four competitive pickleball courts. Other uses for the facility go beyond basketball and with proper mats could be used for other sports such wrestling.
An indoor beach volleyball court will also be in the facility.
“We are trying to get as many activities and users in here as possible,” he said.
One area they want to highlight and emphasize is the programs they are offering and how they are not just for the elite athletes but for anyone and everybody.
Both Brightman and King are highly involved in the Saskatchewan basketball scene.
With former teacher Brightman previously working in Basketball Saskatchewan’s high performance male program.
King has been coaching a women’s college level basketball team.
The pair have big plans for not just basketball but for most indoor sports in the community.
They would love to see as many people as possible to come out Saturday evening and take a look at the facility and give it a try.
