Former Warriors Coach Becomes A Broadcaster
Called by some in the hockey world the ‘worst person you will ever meet’ former Moose Jaw Warriors head coach Mike Babcock has returned to the world of hockey.
Babcock has been hired as an analyst for NBC’s coverage of the NHL.
Babcock who coached the Warriors from 1991 - 1993 was known for his abrasive style both on and off of the ice and already started to show his often contemptuous treatment of the media, now finds himself part of it.
During his tenure with the Warriors Babcock “endeared” himself with the local fans and media in the infamous post game hot stove league held at the Moose Jaw Civic Centre.
Babcock replaces Mike Milbury who was ultimately ousted after 12 years with NBC after one too many racist, sexist or outright insulting comments while on the air.
Babcock’s previous tenure was as head coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs where he is infamously known to have had then rookie Mitch Marner rate the efforts put in by his teammates and then later threw Marner off of the cliff by sharing the list with his teammates.
