Mavericks Take First Win Of The Season

It may not have been a pretty affair, with the Moose Jaw Bantam A Mavericks taking ten out of 19 penalties, but the team managed to squeeze by the Estevan Bearcats 2 - 1 in Saskatchewan Female Hockey League action on Friday evening.

The Mavericks managed to get on the score board first with a goal by Danika Tonge at 14:13 of the first period.. The assist went to Kiana Hrechka.

Madison Mack scored an unassisted shorthanded goal for the Bearcats at the 1:53 mark of the second period to tie the score.

The Mavericks rounded out the scoring on the powerplay at 7:12 of the third period when Allison Duncan scored assisted by Kaydance Ray and Jenika Stevenson.

The second game in the home and home with Estevan set for Sunday in Moose Jaw was cancelled due to the weather. It is unknown when the game will be made up.
