Mavericks Manage A Tie Against The Rebels
After going up 3 -1 the Moose Jaw Bantam A Mavericks had to settle for a 3 - 3 tie against the Regina Rebels in Saskatchewan Female Hockey League action Sunday in the Queen City.
For the Mavericks it was a game, at least on the scoresheet, dominated by Kaydance Ray who not only scored a natural hat trick but also the two minor penalties assessed against Moose Jaw.
First Period
The first goal was scored at 19:04 unassisted by Ray giving the Mavericks the quick start head coach Jeremy Howe had been hoping for.
Second Period
The Rebels managed to tie the game at the 15:11 mark of the second period on a goal by Elise EB Baron assisted by Noah Strueby and McKenna Weatherald.
Moose Jaw retook the lead at the 12:22 mark of the second period with Ray scoring assisted by Denise Cheesman.
The Mavericks then took a two goal advantage with Ray scoring her natural hat trick goal assisted by Jenika Stevenson and Chantel Howe.
Third Period
Scoring-wise the third period belonged to the Rebels.
The first goal of the third period was scored at 16:09 by Ryann Buckner. Assists went to Grace Volk and Madison Franklin.
The tying goal was scored by Noah Strueby assisted by Weatherald and Franklin.
The Mavericks next game is this Friday at 7 pm when they face the Weyburn Creekside Carwash Gold Wings in the first game of a home and home. The game will be played at the Red Knight Arena located at 15 Wing Moose Jaw.
