Local Archers Medal At National Championships

When it comes to archery many of us think about Robin Hood shooting an apple off of the Sheriff’s head or making the most improbable bullseye well there is a group of aspiring archers in the Friendly City who may soon become notorious with those types of feats.

On April 27 and 28 three archers from the Thunder Creek Archery Club attended the 2019 Indoor 3-D Canadian Archery Championships in Brandon, Manitoba and all three were able to bring home a medal. The Brandon event had 200 competitors with 30 new national champions crowned during the weekend.

In the women’s Senior (21 and over) competition Heather Leduc took the gold medal in Barebow competition with a score of 522.

Tyler Moore, also from the Thunder Creek Archery Club, placed second in the men’s Senior (21 and over) Barebow competition with a score of 671. Moore was tied with Alan Hindle and placed second after a shootout to determine the gold medal winner.

Leonica White, also from the Thunder Creek Archery Club, won a silver medal in the Pre-Cub (12 or less) Compound competition with a score of 610.
