In a battle of the top two teams in their age group the Atom B Vipers defeated the Atom B Kings 7 - 3 to capture the Atom B City Championship on Monday evening out at the Red Knight Arena.

The Vipers opened the scoring at the 19:28 mark when Tye Johson scored an unassisted goal on Kings goaltender Landen Ryall.

The Kings got on the scoreboard and tied the game at the 13:28 mark when Jack Olson scored on Vipers netminder Payton Watt.

The Vipers would regain the lead at the 9:41 mark when Nathan Bandet scored an unassisted goal.

The Vipers would add to their lead at the 5:30 mark when Kai Beattie scored assisted by Joel Gerbrandt.

The Vipers would then round out the first period by adding their fourth goal at the 1:20 mark when Kyp Shpaiuk scored an unassisted goal.

Halfway through the second period the Vipers would add another goal when Johnson scored assisted by Takeo Smith and Ty Arnold.

Despite being down by four goals after the Kings did not give up when Ronan Tonge scored an unassisted goal at the 8:45 mark of the second period.

The Vipers though would regain their four goal lead when at the 3:59 mark of the second period Johnson would score unassisted his hat trick goal.

The third period saw the Kings fight back and Leighton Dufour scored an unassisted goal at the 8:29 mark.

But the attempt at a comeback was short lived when Johnson would score his fourth goal unassisted at the 5:53 mark of the third period.

Despite the score though both goaltenders made some key saves in the game. Winning Goalie was Payton Watt, losing goalie was Landen Ryall.
