An impressive three goal first period lead wasn't enough to propel the Moose Jaw Pee Wee Mavericks to victory against the Southwest Cyclones in South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League playoff action.

The Mavericks ended up on the losing end of the equation as the Cyclones scored two unanswered goals in each of the two remaining periods to win 4-3.

Mavericks regular season points leader Jesse Mielke opened the scoring at 12:29 assisted by Sadie Hughes.

The Mavericks struck again at 8:48 to go up 2-0 when Brooklyn Nimegeers scored assisted by Jasmine Kohl and Mielke.

Just 16 seconds later Mielke notched her third point of the game scoring at 8:32 assisted by Kohl and Hughes.

Kohl would find herself penalized a second later for slashing at 8:31 but the Mavericks successfully killed the penalty.

The second period saw the Cyclones get on the scoreboard at the 19:05 mark with Chase Collier scoring assisted by Emmerson Summer and Kyla Benjamin.

The Cyclones would pull within one at 16:15 as Sadie Keller scored assisted by Alexa Hildebaugh.

With Hildebaugh off for two minutes at 11:59 for body checking the Mavericks failed to capitalize.

Early in the third period the Mavericks found themselves once again on the power play at 19:31 but were unable to capitalize.

Keller would score her second goal at 9:15 of the third period tying the game.

The Cyclones would get the go ahead marker and eventual game winner at the 5:00 minute mark as Benjamin scored assisted by Sommer.
