Question - Central Butte Parent Asks Why First Riders Program Not Offered At Rural Schools
During the First Riders Program we were asked by a parent why the program was not offered in the rural areas?
To find out why MJ Independent put the question to Todd Johnson transportation manager for the Prairie South School Division.
Although the program is not offered at the present time in Central Butte there are plans afoot to offer a variation of the program next year, Johnson told MJ Independent when we phoned with the parent’s question.
The plan is to host the program during the first days of classes in 2025 with the bus drivers’ and school staff participation.
Although the program won’t be the same as the program offered in Moose Jaw - but be a hybrid version - Johnson said it would stress the same items as the program delivered in Moose Jaw.
The plan is to roll it out to all rural schools where there are buses to increase student and rider safety.
