Thousands ticketed for speeding in July
Being heavy footed in July costs thousands of drivers not just time talking to the officer it also cost him money as the SGI Traffic Safety Spotlight in July focussed upon speeding and aggressive driving.
July saw 5370 drivers in Saskatchewan ticketed for speeding or aggressive driving offences. The highest total in the category for the year.
July also saw 468 impaired driving offences. Which included
186 Criminal Code charges and 282 administrative suspensions for exceeding provincial limits
464 seatbelt-related tickets; and
739 tickets for distracted driving offences, including 621 drivers ticketed for using a cellphone while driving.
SGI would also like to remind motorists on September 5th that school zones, playgrounds and crosswalks will be full of activity as the school year begins.
