City Taking Applications For Summer Patios/Boardwalks

Program Designed To Allow Businesses To Create Summer Outdoor Spaces

By Robert Thomas

If you own a Downtown business and would like to have a summer patio/seasonal boardwalk you can now apply to the City of Moose Jaw.

The program allows Downtown businesses to make use of parking stalls for either a summer patio for an outdoor patio or a seasonal boardwalk for pedestrian traffic.

The program allows businesses the opportunity to create outdoor seating and gathering spaces outside their establishment.

All applications must include:

  • A site plan (including dimensions and number of parking stalls).

  • Seating capacity.

  • Structures or enclosures that will be erected.

To rent parking stalls for the season that have parking meters is $7.50 per day, with $3.40 added per additional stall or a flat rate of $1,100 with added $500 per additional stall.

Businesses and organizations who do not have meters at their parking stalls but wish to participate in the program will pay 50-per-cent of those fees.

Fees will be used to cover the lost revenue from metered parking stalls that will be utilized by the program, the City says.
