Thief Could Have Had An Electrifying Experience
The petty crime spree that is seemingly sweeping Moose Jaw has showed it’s ugly head on the Moose Jaw Exhibition grounds.
And this time one wrong move could have led to an electrifying experience.
At the Exhibition’s monthly board meeting on Tuesday evening general manager George Fowler reported someone had broken into the back room of the campground building and stolen the electrical breakers from the breaker box.
Fowler said that although there was a way to turn the power off the breakers had been stolen while the breaker box was still energized.
“One false move a quarter of an inch one way or another our electrician said they could have electrocuted themselves,” Fowler said.
He went on to report “we have seen more thefts in the last six months than we have seen in the last ten years.”
Not only are people without horses boarded at the Exhibition stealing hay, there has been other petty thefts as well as unknown individuals stealing from nearby businesses and then hiding their loot on the exhibition grounds to pick up later.
Fowler reported other businesses in the area have seen a dramatic increase in the number of thefts.
The Moose Jaw Police Service has been alerted and the Exhibition has installed a number of cameras on the grounds.
The board was told the stolen breakers have a value of about $2 each.
Anyone who is offered used circuit breakers are asked to contact the Moose Jaw Police Service.
