South Hill Joint Use School Opponent Launches On-Line Petition
By Robert Thomas
After failing to get Council to not waive the “required public consultation” for the rezoning of Westheath Five and Six to allow for a proposed joint use school has a resident opposed to the project launching an on-line petition.
In his on-line petition former Prairie South School Division trustee Jan Radwanski lays out all of the reasons why the proposed Westheath location and joint use school for all if South Hill is not the way to go.
Radwanski favours the funding designated for the proposed new joint use school to instead be spent on present school sites renovating, expanding and making use of the more centrally located schools.

In an email sent out to promote the petition Radwanski states he is looking for 100 signatures of support.
As of two days the on-line petition already had 132 people signing in support of reconsidering the closure of four neighbourhood South Hill schools - Westmount, Sacred Heart Community School, Empire Community School and St Mary - and replace them with a single joint use school in the Westheath neighbourhood.
“This petition asks that you sign in order to show Moose Jaw City Council a collective voice against these proposed amendments to the city bylaws so that a 1,100 student school does not get approved at this site,” the petition states.
The on-line petition goes on at length the reasons why the proposed joint use school is not the best option for South Hill.
