Free New Year's Eve Bus Rides See Major Jump
Free transit service on New Year's Eve saw a significant jump this year compared to 2022.
In its 33rd year the free New Year's Eve transit service by the City of Moose Jaw is paid for by SGI.
The free bus rides are designed to allow New Year's Eve party-goers to not have to worry about getting behind the wheel and potentially driving impaired.
In 2023 105 passengers utilized Moose Jaw Transit’s fixed route service to ring in 2023, while two riders utilized Paratransit.
Last year, 2022, 38 riders (29 fixed, 9 Paratransit) took advantage of the free bus rides to celebrate the new year.
Although no official reason for the jump is given but temperature might have something to do with it.
Last year on January 1, 2022 the low temperature was -31C and on January 1, 2023 the low temperature was a much milder -10C.
The City of Moose Jaw partners annually with SGI on the Find A Safe Ride program, which provides free Transit Service from 7:15 p.m. New Year’s Eve through 3:15 am New Year’s Day.
