Animal Abuse Case Once Again Adjourned

Being homeless has allowed a woman charged with cruelty to animals - federal criminal code and provincial statutes - plus missing court to have her court case once again adjourned.

Robyn Ashley St Laurent, of no fixed address, is alleged to have willing caused unnecessary suffering to cats and dogs by failing to provide the necessities of life, veterinary care and sanitary conditions in violation of section 451.1 (1) (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada between July 15, 2019 to October 25, 2019.

She is additionally charged under provincial animal abuse statutes as well.
The failure to attend court charge relates to the case.

Appearing in front of Moose Jaw Provincial Court Judge Darryl Rayner the Defense asked and received an adjournment because at the present time St Laurent is homeless.

Judge Rayner agreed to the request and adjourned the case until March 21st for “resolution” and “plea” at that time.

St Laurent was not in the court room but was represented by Legal Aid lawyer Adam Fritzler.

The case, which date backs over two years ago, has had several adjournments over the recent months.

She is to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
