Yara Centre Soon To Have Bus Service

If you wanted to take the bus to go for a walk on the track, use the turf, life weights or anything else at the Yara Centre (1220 High Street West) you will soon be able to so.

Starting February 28th Moose Jaw Transit’s Route 3 - Athabasca West-Thatcher route - will go to the Yara Centre.

The route has been highly requested by Yara Centre users.

The issue of a transit route came as a promise by the Moose Jaw Multi-Plex Builders Inc during the controversy surrounding the original construction of the then named Multi-Plex.

When the Builders approached the City for the promised route Council of the day declined as they had not made the promise and the cost at that time was estimated to be over $60,000 annually.

No cost increase, if any, to Transit was released but previously City Manager Jim Puffalt had indicated by re-drawing and scheduling the routes would likely me no increased costs.

To accommodate this extra service, some bus stop timing changes will be incorporated.

Beginning February 28, a layover previously scheduled at the 13th Ave NW & Pascoe Dr. W bus stop will be eliminated and stop times between these two locations will be moved ahead by five minutes.

Additionally, Route 2 – Sunningdale will see bus stop timing changes between West Park Crossing and the Kinsmen Sportsplex.

A layover previously occurring at West Park Crossing will be moved to the Kinsmen Sportsplex and stop times between these two locations will be moved ahead by 2 minutes.
