Allegedly Threatening A Police Officer Lands Man In Court
Allegedly threatening a police officer and attempting to take a vehicle back after it had been seized has landed an accused in some hot water.
Appearing Monday morning in Moose Jaw Provincial Court the accused, Kevin Schmaltz, plead not guilty to uttering a threat to cause bodily harm and attempting to take a vehicle after it had been seized.
Both incidents allegedly occurred on October 30th.
Representing himself Schmaltz entered the pleas.
Since Scmaltz is representing himself Judge Darryl Rayner set a case management hearing to occur between Scmaltz, the Crown and a Judge for Friday January 6, 2023.
Although he cannot give legal advice Judge Rayner said Schmaltz could, if chose to do so, make use of the time to get disclosure from the Crown to better his understanding of the case.
It needs to be remembered Schmaltz is to be considered not guilty until proven so in a court of law.
