Saddleback Appears In Court - Remanded In Custody

The alleged shooter in a Friday evening chase and brief standoff made his first court appearance in Moose Jaw Provincial Court this morning.
Dressed in white prison coveralls Jirard Saddleback, 32, of Calgary appeared before Judge Brian Hendrickson and was remanded until his next court appearance by video on November 7th.
He is charged with:
Attempted Murder
Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking
Possession of a prohibited firearm
Possession of the proceeds of crime
Several other firearm and weapon related crimes
Although no details of the charges were released in court the MJPS did release details of allegedly what occurred to the media over the weekend.
Saddleback is alleged to have shot at members of the Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) on Friday evening as they were preparing to execute a warrant on a residence located on the 800 Block of 4th Avenue NW.
After allegedly shooting at police the statement read he fled into the neighbourhood where he was subsequently captured after a brief standoff and negotiation with police.
Additionally it is alleged Saddleback had a large amount of Crystal Methamphetamine (Meth) - 850 grams - a small amount of fentanyl and $6,600 in cash at the time of his Friday evening arrest.
At the time of his arrest Saddleback was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for being Unlawfully at Large from Calgary. The arrest warrant being in effect since July 18, 2022.
The accused is to be considered innocent until proven guilty before a court of law.
