Nominations Open For November 3rd Byelection

If you are thinking about running for the next mayor of Moose Jaw you have two weeks to get your nomination papers in.

Starting today, September 15 and until 4 pm Wednesday, September 29, prospective new mayors have the opportunity to file the paperwork at the City Clerk’s Office located on the second floor of Moose Jaw City Hall.

The mayor’s chair became available when former Mayor Fraser Tolmie resigned to represent the Conservative Party of Canada in the Moose Jaw - Lake Centre - Lanigan riding in the general federal election.

Tolmie’s resignation triggered a by-election on November 3rd costing taxpayers approximately $60,000.

Potential nominees can view and download a Candidate Information package on the City’s By- Election web page: moosejaw.ca/2021byelection/ or pick one up in person between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday (except stat holidays) from the Commissionaire’s Desk, Moose Jaw City Hall, 228 Main St. North.

So far only Councillor Crystal Froese has publicly declared her intention to run to be the next mayor.
