June Declared Parks And Recreation Month
Usually with little fanfare June is declared Parks and Recreation Month. But this year that is different.
Taking advantage of the weather, an outdoor setting, plus the Phyllis Dewar Outdoor Pool filled and just over two weeks from re-opening Mayor Fraser Tolmie read out and then signed the proclamation.
Plus the added announcement from Scott Osmachenko, recreation services manager for the City of Moose Jaw that this year there will be some very cool prizes up for grabs for those who take advantage of what Moose Jaw has to offer.
They event also featured the release of a calendar which highlights daily events or activities people can take advantage of during the month of June.
The calendar is displayed below:
“I’m proud to proclaim June as Recreation and Parks Month,” Mayor Fraser Tolmie.
“I encourage Moose Javians to explore our trails, Parks, facilities and the multiple recreation possibilities in Wakamow Valley, and get Notoriously Active in June,” he said.
This year the Wakamow Valley Authority is part of the initiative.
As part of Parks and Recreation month the City is running a contest which includes the following prizes - 1 month, 3 month and an annual family recreation pass to City owned facilities.
To enter post a photo of you doing a recreation activity in a City park or recreational facility or at Wakamow Park and tag the City of Moose Jaw on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter and use the hashtag #NotoriouslyActive for a chance to win free Family Recreation passes to City recreation facilities.
There will be additional prizes available provided by Canadian Tire charity KidsSport.
