Outdoor Pool Opening June 14th
For those of you who have wondered the Natatorium and Phyllis Dewar Outdoor Pool is slated to open on June 14th.
At the post Council news conference when asked by MJ Independent city manager Jim Puffalt said the outdoor pool is set to re-open in less than three weeks time.
Puffalt’s comments put to rest a rumour in the community the outdoor pool was never going to be re-opened.
The outdoor pool was closed last year as the Province’s declared State of Emergency left a question mark if swimmers would be allowed to use it and the City struggled to cut costs during the expected economically trying pandemic and arrive at a zero percent tax increase to assist property taxpayers.
Once the outdoor pool opens for the Summer the City will take advantage of the opportunity to temporarily close the Kinsmen Pool, drain it and conduct annual maintenance before it is re-opened to the public.
The annual maintenance program usually takes about a month to complete at which time the indoor pool is re-opened.
