City Worker Not Injured When Hit By Car Inside A Work Zone

A motorist ignoring a Road Closed sign has resulted in a City worker being hit by a vehicle on Saturday.

The City worker was not injured in the incident which according to Saskatchewan law that any vehicle striking a pedestrian was reported to the police.

In light of the incident the City issued a news release reminding motorists about the rules regarding work areas.

If there is a Road Closed sign erected it means the entire roadway not just a single lane.

Obey all signage erected.

When a lane of traffic is open to vehicle traffic in a work area the speed limit in the open lane(s) is 30 km/hr throughout the entire work area.

The City would also like to remind motorists the fines for not following the rules for work zones can financially be quite costy.

Fines for speeding in a construction zone, as identified in the City’s Traffic Bylaw are as follows: $240 plus $6 for each km/hr in excess of the speed limit for speeds up to 30km/hr above the speed limit and $12 for each km/hr in excess of the speed limit for speeds greater than 30km/hr above the speed limit.
