Free Yard Waste Weekend Today And Tomorrow
If you have leaves and other yard waste you have cleaned up this Autumn then this weekend is something you might want to take advantage of.
This weekend the City is offering the second and final organic yard waste day at the landfill.
Today Saturday November 6th and tomorrow November 7th the City is offering a free organic waste weekend for residential customers.
For both days during regular operating hours - 7 am to 5 pm on Saturday and 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday.
During this free Yard Waste Weekend the City waives the $10 tipping fee for organic waste typically acquired when residents clean up their yards.
For waste that does not qualify homeowners will have to pay the regular tipping fees, commercial users will pay the regular commercial fee even if the waste is yard waste.
All yard waste must be in clear, blue or orange bags only to allow landfill staff to inspect what residents are hauling.
Tree branches up to one inch in diameter is acceptable along with leaves and grass clippings.
Other things such as construction or other household waste will have to pay the appropriate tipping fee.
To increase efficiency, the City of Moose Jaw will create a designated yard waste zone, have staff inspect loads at the entrance and direct vehicles to the appropriate area.
The City reminds residents that according to city bylaw No. 5156, Section 23, tarpaulins are required to secure loads and violations will be issued for loads not secured by a tarp. This will keep roads and streets safe and free of debris.
Single axle trailers or half ton truck loads are allowed although dual axle trailers will be assessed at the commercial rate.
