Caronport Business Fined $14,000 For Allegedly Breaking Pandemic Health Mandate
The Beacon located in Caronport is the first local business to be fined under the present mandated restrictions to help control the spread of COVID - 19. The allegation of failure to screen clientele for a valid proof of vaccination or a negative COVID - 19 test has yet to be proven in court.
The Beacon is a gas station, convenience store and a restaurant that operates in the village.
Under the latest mandate all restaurants are required to ask for proof of vaccination (commonly referred to as a vaccine passport) or a negative COVID - 19 test for any customers who wish to be seated. Additionally masks must be worn at all times except for when not eating and drinking as well as seated at a table.
