Weather Alert Issued For Southern Saskatchewan This Tuesday
If you have anything you need to go out and pick up on Tuesday or you are considering doing some traveling you might want to get it done today and tomorrow as a major storm is headed this way.
Environment Canada has issued a major weather alert for this Tuesday as a major storm is expected to blow into southern Saskatchewan.
According to the Weather Alert strong winds will push into the area on Tuesday.
Although the major weather event concerning precipitation is predicted to hit the area stretching along the Yellowhead Highway the freezing rainfall predicted along the highway and the heavier snow to the north might trend further south.
At the present time the prediction for Moose Jaw and area is for the area southwest of the Yellowhead will see strong winds through the day, with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h expected.
Near the Yellowhead itself, a band of freezing rain is likely to develop, making travel slippery for a few hours throughout the day.
Areas north of the Yellowhead are expected to see heavy snowfall. Current indications are that anywhere between 10 and 30 cm of snow may fall, especially in a line from Lloydminster and Meadow Lake to The Pas, Manitoba.
There is some uncertainty with regard to timing and exact location of this system, but it appears likely that this system will adversely affect much of Saskatchewan on Tuesday.
