Remember School Zones Will Have Children As School Starts Tuesday
Remember that Tuesday is the first date of school since March due to the Province’s declared State Of Emergency surrounding the COVID - 19 pandemic. And with the school re-starting remember to expect children in all school zones.
In Moose Jaw school zones are in effect all year round from 8 am to 6 pm because school yards are in many neighbourhoods used as the neighbourhood playground.
Additional hazards to be noted this year is that there is also on-going construction as part of Phase Five of the Cast Iron Water Main Replacement Program which may effect your driving habits as well as children accessing their schools.
On Stadacona East from the 600 to 900 block, or the south side of Prince Arthur School the streets are now blocked to through vehicle traffic and pedestrian traffic may also be altered due to the construction.
Over at St Agnes School, 330 Oxford Street West, vehicle access to the school is closed on the east and south sides of the school. Vehicle traffic is blocked along Oxford Street West as well as on 3rd Avenue NW because of the Cast Iron Water Main Replacement program. There are barricades up along 3rd Ave NW to prevent pedestrian access.
Drivers need to proceed with added caution as children may be accessing the school along non-traditional routes. Additionally buses may be utilizing alternative student drop off points.
As well SGI has provided a brief lesson about the rules to follow around school zones province-wide.
