Phase Five Of The Cast Iron Water Main Program Set To Leave The Downtown

It was another week of progress as work continued on phase five of the Cast Iron Water Main Program.

Work this week saw the project just about to wrap up in the Downtown and some paving done on a residential portion of the project.

There are no major problems or setbacks to report this week.

Second Avenue NW - Manitoba Street West to Fairford Street West

This additional section of this year’s work is now paved from High Street West to Manitoba Street West.

Excavation of the section from High Street W north to Fairford Street W is now completed and set to be paved on Monday depending on the weather..

Stadacona Street East - 6th Avenue NE to 9th Avenue NE

This section of the cast iron replacement program saw road paving on the 600 block on Sunday afternoon and it anticipated the stretch of roadway will be open to traffic on Monday to kick off the first day of Fall.

Construction continues on the 700 and 800 blocks with the roadway including the 8th Ave NE intersection closed to traffic. Excavation equipment is no longer visible on site. Detours are in place.

Third Avenue NW - Oxford Street West to Macdonald Street West

The intersection of Oxford Street W and 3rd Avenue NW adjacent to St Agnes School was re-opened to traffic.

Excavation continues between Oxford Street W and Hall Street W with excavation set to begin between Hall St W and Saskatchewan Street West as the temporary waterlines are laid out but not connected to most homes at this time.

The roadway is blocked off to thru traffic from Saskatchewan St W to Oxford St W including the intersection of Hall St W.
