Cast Iron Program Work Firmly Underway In Residential Areas

Progress continued on the Cast Iron Water Main Replacement Program with the major work now underway in two residential areas.

Third Avenue NW - Oxford Street W to MacDonald Street W

Work continued on the 3rd Avenue NW portion of the project with excavation reaching the intersection of Hall Street. Crews were on site working adjacent the intersection on Monday morning. The intersection is now closed to traffic and there is no thru vehicle access down both Hall St W and Oxford St W.

The stretch from Hall Street West to Saskatchewn Street West now has the temporary water lines laid out as the crew gets closer to moving further up the street,

Stadacona Street East - 6th Avenue NE to 9th Avenue NE

This section of the project is at various stages of completion with the 600 block water main replacement now completed and packing underway in preparation for paving.

Excavation is underway on the 900 block with the project about 150 meters west of the intersection of Stadacona St E and 9th Avenue NE.

The entire length of the project remains closed to vehicle traffic including the intersections of 7th Avenue NE and 8th Avenue NE.

Second Avenue NW - Manitoba Street West to Fairford Street West

This portion of the project is in the final stages of completion wth the excavation work now completed and the area that was trenched packed.

Paving between Manitoba St. and High St. and between High St. and Fairford St. will be completed the week of September 14, weather permitting, the City said in a release.

Local businesses remain open.

There is a road closure from 1st Avenue NW to Fairford Street East.
