Last Day For Free Dump Day

If you have organic yard waste from cleaning up your yard today is the last day of the first weekend where you can dump it for free at the landfill.

In an effort to help residents who are busy cleaning up their yards the City is offering two free organic yard waste weekends.

The first weekend was yesterday and today with the second weekend being the three day Victoria Day long weekend May 16 - 18.

For today and the Victoria Day long weekend thr City is waving the usual $10 tipping fee for residential organic yard waste which includes leaves, grass clippings and branches no bigger than an inch in diameter.

A special area has been set up where City staff will help ensure the waste dumped does fall into the organic yard waste category. Please follow all signage.

People may haul with a pickup truck or a single axle trailer but dual axle trailers and commercial vehicles may not dump for free.

Waste hauled which falls into other categories will be subject to fees based upon weight and material type.

Remember at the present time the City is not accepting cash but debit and credit card only in an effort to stop the spread of COVID - 19.

All loads to the landfill must also be properly tarped under City bylaw and fines will be assessed for non-compliance.

Yesterday's free organic yard waste dump day had long lines so be prepared for a wait.

The landfill is open today from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m..
