City Says High Street Work On Schedule
It may not look like anything is going on but according to the City of Moose Jaw the Cast Iron Water Main Replacement Program is on schedule.
Responding to e-mail questions City of Moose Jaw communications director Craig Hemingway said.
“The 200 block of High Street West is an active worksite. Before excavation can take place contractors must execute saw cutting, where they cut the asphalt first to ensure clean lines when the excavation begins which is a standard procedure. Contractors are operating according to schedule, Hemingway wrote.
On Friday the contractor was still busy connecting temporary water lines on the south side of the 200 block of High Street West.
Painting the lane lines on the 0 block of High Street West, to only be ripped out during construction is not an oversight or waste of taxpayer money, Hemingway wrote.
“As was noted in a previous media release, the estimated construction time on each block is four weeks, (weather permitting). Therefore, it may be approx. two months before water main construction begins on the 0 block of High St. It is a minimal cost to paint one block, especially when weighed against the safety benefits of having visible traffic lines,” Hemingway wrote.
Hemingway said the City appreciated everyone's patience and reminded motorists to follow and obey all signage.
